History of Birthplace Ownership 1817: 
Daniel Anthony paid $50 to Daniel Read for the land on East Road, MA

1818:
Daniel Anthony built the house located at 17 East Road, Adams, MA.

1820:
Susan B. Anthony was born in the house at 17 East Road, Adams, MA.

1827:
The Daniel & Lucy Anthony family moved from their homestead to NY.

1834:
Daniel Anthony sold the homestead to his father, Humphrey Anthony.

1895:
Alden Briggs purchased the homestead.

1896:
Alex Horton purchased the homestead.

1910:
The Society of Friends Descendents tried unsuccessfully to purchase the homestead.

1926:
The Society of Friends Descendents, with the help of local historian and Register of Deeds, William B. Browne, purchased the homestead.

1926-1949:
The Society of Friends Descendents operated a small museum about Susan B. Anthony.

1949:
Mr. & Mrs. Charles E. Richardson, Jr. purchased the homestead.

1998:
Linda McConchie and her daughters Lindsay and Elizabeth purchased the homestead.  The McConchies created a small exhibit of informational panels about Susan B. Anthony and the house, which has been opened for viewing on several occasions.

1999:
The McConchies conveyed the title of the homestead to a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization.

2006:
Susan B. Anthony Birthplace was purchased at auction by Carol Crossed.
