MISSION STATEMENT: The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to preserving the birthplace and raising public awareness of the wide-ranging legacy of the great social reformer, Susan B. Anthony, who was a pioneering feminist and suffragist as well as a noteworthy figure in the abolitionist, pro-life and temperance movements of the 19th century.  As part of its mission, the Museum will highlight the familial and regional influences which shaped Ms. Anthony’s early life, by displaying the textiles and furnishings of that period, as well as the literature and other memorabilia associated with her later career.

About the Owner: Carol N. Crossed

Carol has played a leading role in the American Indian movement, promoting relations between native North American and Latin American indigenous peoples; in the Developing Countries Visiting Journalist Program, the Women’s Peace Encampment, the World Health Conference on Women and Children, and Bread for the World.

Carol has spoken before the US Senate Judiciary on nonviolent civil disobedience, was awarded the World Food Day Stamp for the Food for People Network, and appears on the Women’s Wall of Fame in Seneca Falls, NY.

In 2000, Carol received the Susan B Anthony Award in Rochester NY, her home town and the Gaudete Medal from St. Bonaventure University. She was the subject of an article that won second place in the National Catholic Press Association Awards.

She is currently on the Board of Directors of Consistent Life International, Inc. (formerly The Seamless Garment Network) a federation of over 200 organizations that support the consistent life ethic and oppose war, abortion, capital punishment, euthanasia, economic injustice, and racism. Carol was a founding member of the Network in 1988 and was its Executive Director from 1992-1998.

She currently holds the position of Vice-President of Democrats for Life of America, an organization she co-founded in 1999.
