Founding Members
Before the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum officially opened its doors to
the public, it was Anthony family
descendants who first recognized the importance of preserving their
ancestor’s legacy.
​
Coming together with a shared vision,
they played a pivotal role in the restoration
of the home where Susan B. Anthony was born. This dedicated group laid the
foundation—quite literally—for what would become a center for education, history, and women's rights.​​
​Some of these descendants went on to
serve as members of the Museum’s Board.
Among them are Lucy Anthony, as well as
Pat and Eric Anthony, who continue to
contribute their time and expertise to this day.
Eric Anthony, skilled genealogist and historian,
serves to vet his Anthony family descendants on
behalf of the Honorary Board. Their leadership and
commitment have helped shape the museum’s mission.

Because Susan was unmarried, she has no direct descendants.
Therefore the Board is representative of the great great nieces and
nephews of Sunsan’s siblings as well as descendant cousins from the numerous Anthony Uncles and Aunts from early Rhode Island, reaching beyond the Berkshires today.

Today, the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace is proud to be home to an
Honorary Board of over 30 Anthony family descendants. In recent months, we have welcomed new members after they reached out to share their genealogical ties to Susan B. Anthony’s family. Their presence not only honors the past, but helps sustain a living connection to the legacy of one of America’s most influential reformers.

To begin the process, please email us at info@susanbanthonybirthplace.org with a brief introduction and documentation that demonstrates your genealogical connection to the Anthony family. This may include family trees, records, or other forms of verification.

Once reviewed and approved, new honorary board members will receive a commemorative certificate by mail recognizing their place in the extended Anthony family and their ongoing connection to Susan B. Anthony’s historic legacy.
